Nusa Penida is one of the best places to see manta rays in Indonesia. These gentle giants are a bucket list item for many, and our manta ray dive sites are suitable for all levels, even beginners. Whether you want to try diving for the first time or are perfecting your navigations skills, you could be gliding alongside manta rays while you do your diving course in Nusa Penida.
Penida is also home to a healthy turtle population, the dive sites on the north coast are particularly great for spotting turtles and we see them on practically every dive.
During mola season, you may even get the chance to spot one of the most sought after fish! Molas (aka sunfish / moonfish / mola mola) frequent Penida's dive sites during the months of June to late October every year. Taking your Advanced Open Water or your Deep Specialty will allow you to dive deeper, giving you an even better chance to spot them.
Unlike other areas in Bali, when you take a diving course in Nusa Penida you will be diving by boat, and you will get an amazing variety of dive sites. You won't find yourself repeating dive sites or just diving from the beach. Penida's sites are very varied, from sheltered bays with sandy areas which are ideal for skills practice, to stunning coral reefs where you can learn to drift dive safely and even wall dives where finding depth is easy, there is something for everyone here and we can guarantee you won't be bored!
The boat ride to the dive sites for your diving course in Nusa Penida can range from 2 to 45 minutes. The longer rides to the sights on the south of Nusa Penida allow you to take in the scenery of Penida's cliffs and view points, meanwhile visiting the closer dive sites allows you more time to explore the island after the diving day is done.
When taking a diving course in Nusa Penida you will get to experience a wide range of diving conditions. Some locations may boast that diving in an area with no currents or waves is the ideal way to learn, and it definitely has its merits, especially if you a very nervous. However, Nusa Penida's dive sites can make you a very well-rounded diver as they introduce you safely to some of the more challenging aspects of diving.
By taking an course in an area which experiences some currents, waves and surge, you will have experienced these conditions under the supervision of your PADI instructor. Would you rather encounter these conditions under the guidance of your instructor or be taken by surprise the first time?! You can learn to drift dive (diving with the current), you can learn to anticipate surge when diving at sites with waves and learn how to minimise your effort in such conditions.

Our dive boat is custom built, is very spacious and has all of the safety equipment you'll ever need, including emergency oxygen, marine radio, lifejackets, first aid kit and spare gear.
We have small student to instructor course ratios to ensure safety and control. Beginner level courses will have no more than 2 students per instructor for the open water dives. Continuing education courses will have no more than 4 students per instructor.
