The decision to start your Divemaster course can be a daunting one. With so many choices of locations, durations and internship styles out there it can be tricky to know where to start.
Here we offer an internship style with a minimum duration of 4 weeks giving you plenty of time and experience in a real working dive centre environment. PADI is the most trusted dive agency in the world, so choosing PADI for your professional level courses is a no-brainer! It's recognised worldwide and sets the standards for the rest in the industry.

There's no right or wrong reason to start your PADI Divemaster internship, people take the course for many reasons… These are some of our favourites.
Gain experience & dive like a pro. You do a LOT of diving during your Divemaster internship, diving almost daily and living the diving life for at least 4 weeks will improve your skills and you will gain a lot of confidence. Through regular feedback sessions and assessments, you can only grow during the internship. 

Become a leader. If you love sharing your passion for diving with others then Divemaster is a great way to do it. By leading others on dives and sharing tips & advice that you have picked up along the way, you have a great way to inspire others.

Across all Scuba Junkie locations you will be guaranteed a very high level of training for all courses - We've been running Divemaster courses and internships for years and have worked out great programs to make you the best Divemaster possible at the end of your course. We all have a minimum of PADI 5* rating, assuring you quality and safety.
Our instructors are experienced, knowledgeable and friendly , which is important! Your instructor will be your mentor throughout the internship and you can count on them for support.
We also take great care of our environment through our conservation arm, Scuba Junkie SEAS. They guide us through all aspects of diving and the resort to make our impact on the environment as low as possible, and we will share this incredible knowledge with you during your internship.

Nusa Penida has beautiful reefs, fun drift dives, year round manta rays and seasonal molas (sunfish). Our reefs here also treat divers to turtles, sharks, marble rays, tunas, giant trevally and lots more!

Part of the reason that we get such amazing marine life here is because of the Indonesian Throughflow current - This passes around the nusa islands bringing all important nutrients with its temperature changes! 

Nusa Penida is very easy to reach from mainland Bali - After flying in to Bali DPS airport you can be on the island within a couple of hours! You get all of the benefit of being on a stunning island, without the hard-to-reach remote location. The fact that we are close to Bali doesn't mean that the quality of the diving is compromised - Far from it! The reefs here are outstanding and very rich.

Here at Scuba Junkie Penida we offer an internship style course over either 4 weeks or 6 weeks. You can start at any time.
The 4 week version covers the core elements of the Divemaster Course in depth.
As a Divemaster Candidate (DMC) you will become part of our team and have a hands-on experience at the dive centre. You'll learn all aspects of how the dive trips and courses run, from loading up tanks and gear in the morning, to greeting new divers and fitting them out for their gear and chilling after the dives to do the all-important log book and critter finding session! It's very social.

4 Weeks
What are the core elements? It’s a mixture of dive theory, polishing your rescue skills, learning how to demonstrate the 24 basic scuba skills to pro standards, workshops about leading PADI programs, swimming and stamina tests, deep diving and search & recovery scenarios, mapping a dive site, assisting our instructors on a full range of PADI courses and learning how to guide divers safely.

6 Weeks
The 6 week version gets you two weeks of extra hands-on experience shadowing our experienced team of Divemasters and Instructors so that you learn much more about how to guide divers spot amazing marine life safely.

We also add in some extra workshops for you to make you a better Divemaster at the end of your internship. Those involve theory top-up lectures for Physics, Physiology and Equipment, compressor and tank filling, learning to fix common equipment problems and we'll also show you how to look for jobs as a certified Divemaster using the PADI pro's site and give you tips for your diving CV. You will also have in-depth presentations about our iconic marine life.

As a dive pro you’ll be diving often and it’s a great idea to have your own gear as you’ll be familiar with it. We realise that dive gear is bulky and heavy to travel with, so if you need to use our equipment, you can.

We strongly recommend that you bring your own mask, snorkel, boots and fins as these are pretty personal, but ours are available to use if you don’t have them.

You must have your own personal set of the following items:
-Compass
-Dive Computer
-Blank Dive Slate
-SMB & REEL (inflatable signalling device)
-Steel Pointer (for rapping on tank to get attention and pointing out marine life)
-Dive Knife
-PADI Divemaster Slate Pack

Most of our Divemaster candidates choose to stay in our comfortable 4-bed dorms. The dorms have AC, an attached bathroom with hot shower, super comfy spring mattresses, lock boxes for valuables and a balcony with chairs for relaxing. By staying with us you are close to the action (that means no waking up extra early as you're already at the resort!), and you get a tasty breakfast included every day.
You get unlimited tea, coffee and drinking water refills at reception, and the resort has Wi-Fi throughout.

Our En-suite rooms can be booked subject to availability for those who prefer a private room, or we can give you some suggestions for some places close by if our rooms are full for your dates.
