PADI Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) introduces you to our amazing underwater world - It's an ideal way to try scuba diving if you are short on time, or if you are unsure whether you want to take the full Open Water Diver Course (4 days).

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

The discover scuba diving course can be completed in as little as only take 1 Day. We have a few different options available to suit your plans on the island, ranging between 1-1.5 days.

what will i do?

Before your amazing ocean dives you’ll have a quick introduction about the basic rules for diving and a swimming pool session to learn the basics.

how much does it cost?

Discover Scuba Diving starts at Rp 2,200,000

Price includes: Dive equipment, All PADI Material, PADI Instructor Fees, PADI Certification, Snack & Lunch on the boat, water, tea & coffee

Prices are valid until 31st December 2024 and are inclusive of 10% Government tax

As always with Scuba Junkie, safety is our top priority. Our Discover Scuba Diving ratio here in Nusa Penida is 2 participants per instructor for the open water dives (maximum 4 participants per instructor for confined water dives in the swimming pool). This is so that your instructor can give you their full attention.
We are the only dive centre on Penida to guarantee 3 dives each day, giving you the maximum number of dives in your experience. Our friendly and professional instructors will guide you safely through blowing your first bubbles and guide you safely over the stunning reefs.

Our equipment is new and well maintained and we include the full set of all required equipment and materials in the course and package rates.
Our custom built dive boat has all of the safety equipment we may ever need and you will cruise to the dive sites in speed and style.

Luckily here in Nusa Penida the conditions at the manta ray dive sites are suitable for everyone, including beginners! On our other sites you can also spot turtles, nemo and an abundance of reef fish on the colourful corals.

what does the schedule look like?

We have several different options ranging between one and one and a half day for your Discover Scuba Diving experience so that we can be as flexible as possible with your time on the island.

1 full day – 2 dives

Schedule Option 1:
7:30am Meet at the dive centre for your introduction
8:30am Learn the basics in the pool
10am Join the boat for 2 ocean dives
1:30-3pm Return to the dive centre

1 and a half days – 2 dives

Schedule option 2:
Day 1
2:30pm – Meet at the dive centre for your introduction
3:30pm – Learn the basics in the pool
Day 2
7:45am – Meet at the dive centre for depart for your 2 boat dives*
1:30-3pm Return to the dive centre

*With this option you will have the opportunity to do a 3rd dive on the boat for an additional charge. If you choose to do two dives then you can snorkel or stay on the boat while other divers do the final dive of the day

frequently asked questions

Can I do Discover Scuba Diving on the day that I arrive on Nusa Penida?

Yes, if you take either Option 2 or Option 3 and take a boat arriving on Nusa Penida by 2pm at the latest.

I have done Discover Scuba Diving before, do I still need to do the theory and pool skills?

Yes, each time you do a new DSD you need to repeat the theory and pool session.

Can I depart Nusa Penida after my dives?

Yes, our dive trips will usually be back by 3pm at the latest, so we advise to take a boat at 4pm or later. Please pay attention to your NO FLY TIME – You will be safe to fly with 18 hours no fly time at 9am the day after your dives.

Can I see manta rays on my Discover Scuba Dives?

Yes, it’s possible! The manta ray sites are suitable for beginners. We need to check the conditions for these sites carefully before going, so please mention this when you enquire.

How deep will I dive on my Discover Scuba Dives?

You’ll dive to a maximum depth of 12m.

I’m nervous / new to diving – Is Discover Scuba Diving a good idea?

It’s the perfect program if you’re a first timer and / or are not sure whether you will like diving or not… You will do some exercises in the swimming pool before going to the ocean, so you will have time to get comfortable on scuba. We recommend doing Option 2 or 3 if this is the case as you will have more time available for your pool session. Whichever option you choose, your instructor will be with you the whole time.

My buddy is a certified diver. Can we dive together?

Yes, it’s possible. We can arrange for you to dive together, but your buddy will be required to limit their depth to the same as you (max 12m depth)
