Nusa Penida north Coast dive sites

The incredible north coast dive sites are right on our doorstep! The ride time is short at 5-15 minutes and you’ll be immersed with the turtles and amazing reef in no time at all. The coral coverage is superb and there is almost always a drift along this part of the island giving you a continual slide show! Molas often clean here, as do thresher sharks, even whale sharks cruise by. Giant trevally, turtles and enormous pufferfish are almost guaranteed sightings, and keep your eyes peeled for macro.

Penida North Coast: Sekolah Dasar (SD), Ped, Sental, Pura Mas Gading (PMG), Buyuk

The whole of Nusa Penida's North coast is essentially one long sloping reef. You can jump in pretty much anywhere, and the dive site names refer to the reference points on land which are the start of each dive site.

In the shallows the reef is gently sloping down to around 12-15m, and then it drops off steeper down to 40m and beyond. In some parts the reef is more like a staircase. All along the coast has excellent coral coverage with all the usual suspects that you would expect to find on a healthy reef: turtles, jacks, giant trevally, trigger fish, fusiliers, morays, tuna, snapper as well as some macro finds like nudibranchs, shrimps, crabs and sometimes even frogfish.
Visibility along the North coast is usually great (15-30m), currents can vary from non existent to a fast drift - Sometimes you'll drift more than one dive site! Usually the currents are one directional (East/West), but at some points along the reef we can experience currents which push in to or away from the reef. Our staff will always give you a detailed briefing and will let you know during the dive if the conditions are changing.

Mola mola are often spotted along the North coast in the right season, as well as several whale shark sightings each year - Keep your eye on the blue!

mangrove

This site is named after the mangrove forest on Nusa Lembongan. It's a gentle sloping reef for an easy drift dive - a site suitable for all levels. The reef is beautiful here and is teeming with life, look out for turtles, moray eels, nudibranchs, jackfish.

blue corner

Lembongan's legendary site has a reputation which is well-earned. This site is for experienced divers only due to strong and unpredictable currents, and needless to say it has to be dived at the right time. We start the dive drifting along current swept terraces towards the corner with a deep wall. In mola season this is great place to spot them, as well a large rays such as marble rays and black blotched rays, plus look out for napoleon wrasse, tuna and sharks.

Not for the faint hearted!
