Not been diving for a while? No worries! We offer free of charge refreshers which are incorporated into your first dive with us to get you feeling comfortable with everything again.
As a new diver we recommend taking a refresher if you have not dived for six months or longer. If you have been a diver for a while and have 100+ dives we recommend taking a refresher after one year of inactivity.
how much does it cost?
We offer refreshers free of charge when you book fun diving with us after a period of inactivity.
Equipment set-up, pre-dive safety check (BWRAF), deep water entry, regulator recovery & clearing, mask clearing, alternate air source use and buoyancy skills.
how long will it take?
We incorporate refreshers into the diving day, so it doesn’t take any extra time!
why choose scuba junkie?
As always with Scuba Junkie, safety is our top priority. Our group ratio here in Nusa Penida is 4 divers per guide. All of our guides are PADI Divemasters or Instructors and we usually group our refreshers separately from other fun divers. This is so that you can get the full attention of your guide, and this often means that you’ll be one-on-one with your guide for the day! We are the only dive centre on Penida to guarantee 3 dives each day, giving you the maximum number of dives in your experience.
Our equipment is new and well maintained and we include the full set of all required equipment and materials in the course and package rates. Our custom built dive boat has all of the safety equipment we may ever need and you will cruise to the dive sites in speed and style.
why dive nusa penida?
Diving around Nusa Penida is incredibly diverse – After your skills you can be diving with manta rays, looking for the sought-after molas (sunfish) or drifting along our famous reefs. Many of our dive sites are suitable for refreshers with sheltered areas and mooring lines so that you can descent with control.
During your refresher you’ll cover the following: On the boat: Equipment set-up, pre-dive safety check (BWRAF), deep water entry. Underwater: regulator recovery & clearing, mask clearing, alternate air source use and buoyancy skills. After the dive: Disassembly & washing. During the logbooks session you’ll also note down that you did a refresher along with the type of suit and how many weights you used for future reference. These skills can be demonstrated for you by your guide beforehand, depending in your comfort level. We will also conduct a weight & trim check with you and assist you with getting back to blowing bubbles comfortably again. You will of course get a full dive briefing which covers all of the standard information about the dive site, signals, air check, safety stop and any emergency procedures.
HOW DOES IT FIT IN WITH MY DIVING DAY?
The refresher doesn’t add on any extra time to your day – There’s no need to come in at a separate time before the diving day or to go for a separate dive. We’ll give you a thorough skills briefing on the boat on the way to or at the dive site. The skills will be conducted in an appropriate, sheltered area of the dive site of your first dive with us. Once the skills are finished you'll be able to swim right along and start enjoying the marine life without any time delays! After the dive your guide will go over any reminders for you and give you feedback while you cruise to the next dive site and enjoy some refreshments.
when should i take a refresher?
These are our recommendations:
